We offer a variety of Alberta Curriculum-aligned educational programs for Pre-school through Grade 7 — interactive, hands-on, and set in the heart of an old-growth forest just north of Edmonton. Each program runs 3 hours with an additional hour for breaks, picnic time, and free exploration of the Active Learning Park.

PROGRAM CONTENT

Educational Content

Children will travel back in time on an interactive tour where they will learn about dinosaurs through movement, play and exploration.
Students will use their senses to explore Jurassic Forest and observe the effects of seasonal changes on the plants and animals of the area.
Students will gain an understanding of the diversity of animal life and the changes that occur during the life cycle of animals including; amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals and insects.
Students will discover prehistoric Alberta including the dinosaurs that once roamed the province, the geology and the global importance of fossil sites in Alberta.
Students will learn about the external adaptations of organisms such as small forest animals, plants and dinosaurs. How they have developed and why they’re so important.
Students will learn about the internal adaptations of organisms such as small forest animals, plants and dinosaurs. How they have developed and why they’re so important.
Students will observe the diversity and complexity of a wetland ecosystem and discuss the importance of wetland areas to both modern and prehistoric organisms.
Students will discuss the conditions required for the formation of fossils, different types of fossils and their importance for our understanding of ancient life on Earth.

  • Bring water bottles, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, and a jacket

  • Interpretive guides deliver program content — classes must remain supervised by adult supervisors at all times, including break periods

  • Students visiting the Gift Shop must be accompanied by an adult supervisor

  • Fully wheelchair accessible — wooden walkways and accessible washroom facilities available

  • School bus parking available on site

  • Storage arrangements for student belongings can be made on request — valuables should not be left unattended

  • Special needs and special educational groups are welcome — contact us in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements
